What an AI chatbot is and how it differs from a click-through bot
An AI chatbot for your website is a small window on your page that answers visitors instantly — at midnight and on weekends too. It works like a receptionist who never sleeps: it answers questions about prices, appointments or shipping and records the contact details of interested visitors. You get on with your work in the meantime.
You may have met the older kind of bot: it offers three buttons, and the moment you ask differently, it gets stuck. An AI chatbot is a different category — it understands the question even when you write it in your own words, with typos or without diacritics.
It draws its answers from your materials — your website, price list, terms and conditions. That is why it answers specifically about your business, not in generic phrases.
What a chatbot handles on a typical website
Imagine most of the questions that currently land in your inbox and on your phone getting answered before they ever reach you. That is precisely its job:
- It answers the recurring questions — opening hours, prices, availability, how to order. You no longer answer the same four questions twenty times a day.
- It records interested visitors — for a more complex request it asks for a phone number or e-mail, and a ready-made enquiry lands with you. A curious visitor becomes a contact, not a closed browser tab.
- It books appointments — it connects to your calendar and offers open slots on the spot. No three phone calls back and forth.
- It helps people choose — it asks a few questions and recommends the right product or service, just as a good salesperson would.
- It works around the clock — evenings, weekends, your holiday. People often pick a supplier in the evening on the sofa; at that moment your website either answers them, or they write to your competitor.
A chatbot for an e-shop
In an e-shop, the chatbot takes over exactly the questions that swamp support today: which size will fit me, where is my order, how do I return an item.
It recommends a size from your measurement chart, looks up an order's status by its number and explains returns, link to the form included. The customer has an answer within seconds, and support handles only the cases where a person is genuinely needed.
For a larger e-shop we connect the chatbot directly to the inventory and order system. Then it does not answer in generalities but precisely: it sees whether an item is in stock, when a parcel shipped and what the customer ordered.
How to create a chatbot — three routes
Not every business needs the same thing, so here is an honest comparison of the three routes, the cheapest one included.
If you have a small website and five recurring questions, start with an off-the-shelf tool — it costs a few euros a month and you can set it up yourself. A custom build pays off when the chatbot is genuinely meant to sell and to save hours of support work every day.
| Route | What you get | When it is enough | Typical price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Off-the-shelf tool | A window on your website that answers from the texts you paste into it. You set it up yourself. | A small website with a few recurring questions. | €20 – €50 per month |
| A tool connected to your data | A chatbot that reads your price list, documents or spreadsheets and answers from them. | A business with a larger set of products and materials. | by scope; running it typically a few € to a few tens of € per month |
| A custom-built chatbot | It knows your products, orders and stock, and keeps your tone. We build it and manage it for you. | An e-shop or business where the chatbot should sell and take the load off support. | from the low thousands of € plus running costs |
Automated e-mail replies
The same brain that answers on your website can also read your inbox. It reads an incoming message, understands what the person needs and drafts a reply in your tone. You review it and send it — and once it has settled in, it can send the routine replies itself.
An example: at 10:14 pm an enquiry arrives asking whether you can deliver 20 units by Friday. Within a minute the AI replies with a price from your price list and a question about shipping. In the morning you do not find an unread message — you find a deal already in motion.
This is exactly how our product AI BOS works — a system that answers companies' messages, follows up with prospects and makes sure no enquiry ever falls through.
The two worries we hear most often
“What if the chatbot says something foolish?” A well-built chatbot has boundaries: it answers only from your materials, and when it is not sure, it says so and hands the question to a person. You can read back every conversation, so you see exactly what it answers and keep fine-tuning it.
That this can be done reliably we know from our own operations: our voice assistant Olivia handles phone calls for more than 50 medical practices and manages 8 calls at once. If AI holds up in healthcare, it will hold up answering questions about free shipping.
“Will it sound like a robot?” We teach the chatbot from your texts — your website, your e-mails, the way you talk to customers. Formal or informal address, warm or matter-of-fact tone — all of it is configurable. The customer should get an answer that sounds like your company.
Frequently asked questions
How much does an AI chatbot for a website cost?
Off-the-shelf tools you set up yourself cost roughly €20 – €50 per month. A custom chatbot that knows your products, orders and stock starts in the low thousands of euros — plus running costs, which for a small business come to a few euros to a few tens of euros per month. On a free intro call we find out what you need, and within 24 hours you receive a fixed quote.
How long does it take to create a chatbot?
An off-the-shelf tool can be on your website within a day or two. A custom chatbot connected to your data takes on the order of weeks — depending on the amount of material and the systems we integrate it with. Your website keeps running normally the whole time; the chatbot switches on only once you have tested its answers and approved them.
Will the chatbot speak Slovak?
Yes, it replies in natural Slovak and understands questions with typos or missing diacritics. If you have customers abroad, the same chatbot also answers in English, German or Hungarian — it recognises the language from how the person writes. You do not need to prepare separate texts for every language.
What if the chatbot does not know the answer?
It says so plainly and passes the question on: it asks for contact details, sends you a summary of the conversation, or connects the customer to a person. We configure it not to make things up — it answers only from your materials. You can read the conversations at any time, and whatever is missing we add to the materials, so it gets more accurate every month.
Do I have to rebuild my website for a chatbot?
No. The chatbot is a small window added to your website with a single snippet of code — your site and its design stay untouched. It works on common content management systems, e-shop platforms and custom-built websites alike. And if your website is still in the making, we can build the chatbot in from day one.
Can the chatbot handle social media messages too?
Yes. There is one brain, and it connects to several channels — your website, e-mail and social media messages. Customers get the same answer no matter which way they write in. In practice it pays to start with the website and e-mail, and add further channels once the first two run reliably.
